just saw out of indiana are what you'll see in pennsylvania, upstate new york and new england through the overnight hours and also as we head into tomorrow. the storm system very powerful and bringing a punch. the good news as far as tornadoes is the threat is starting to diminish. we had a tornado watch still in effect until 5:00 p.m. eastern in extreme eastern north carolina and south carolina but it's winding down. snow in indiana winding down. we had blizzard warnings in effect. they've expired but the one across ohio here are very much in effect. we have strong winds gusting to 30, 40 miles an hour producing whiteouts. not recommended that you're on the roads right now and of course a blizzard warning in effect across northern parts of the state. the pink shading are winter storm warnings in effect across the state of ohio and all across portions of the northeast. you can see the whiteouts in cleveland where easily we could see over a foot of snow in that city and that's going to be the story in pennsylvania, upstate new york and portions of new england. if you live along the coa

the northeast will look a lot like that, especially interior sections, pennsylvania, upstate new york and even portions of new england. later on tonight we'll quickly see the conditions deteriorating across the northeast. this storm system is very widespread. it is a large storm and areas across the south that aren't really dealing with any precipitation across places in alabama we're still dealing with strong winds from this storm. gusts easily over 40 miles per hour. we have wind advisories across the florida panhandle, alabama, georgia, portions of the carolinas and kentucky and state of tennessee. we're seeing a lot of widespread winds even though the storm system is not producing precipitation in your area. another big concern for the storm we're looking at a risk for more severe weather. we saw 30 reports of tornados yesterday. very unusual to see that during christmas day or even this late in the year. now we have another tornado watch. we're still seeing risk of tornados across eastern portions of state of north carolina and across portions of the state of south carolina. this tornado

ambushed and killed two volunteer firefighters in upstate new york may have murdered his sister. her body was found yesterday, and police say william spamglor had the same kind of military rifle used in the connecticut school massacre. he left behind a chilling note. >> reporter: the christmas eve fire in western new york burned seven homes to the ground, but police say william spangler wanted to do much worse. he planned to burn down the entire neighborhood and "do what i like doing best, killing people." the 62-year-old shot at firefighters from a nearby bank. he killed two of them before taking his own life. police found his note and three guns, including a bushmaster rifle, similar to the weapon used m connecticut school shooting. >> he is a convicted felon. he had murdered his grandmother in 1980. he bludgeoned her to death with a hammer. >> reporter: he served 17 years in prison, and after being released moved in with his sisters. investigators found the body in the charred rubble of his home and believe it could be his sister's. the firehouse has opened up its private medical for t

: police in webster, new york, found human remains today in the burned-out home where a gunman ambushed firefighters on christmas eve. the victim appeared to be william spengler's sister. he left a note saying he wanted to burn down the neighborhood and kill people. spengler set fire to his house, then shot four firefighters-- killing two-- before killing himself. he had a revolver, a shotgun, and a bushmaster rifle, the same model used in the newtown school shooting. >> i can't tell you at this time what the victims were shot with. we assume it w the rifle because of the distance. it's going to go to the medical examiner. they'll have the autopsies done. >> holman: two firefighters remained hospitalized today in stable condition. the fire spengler set ultimately burned seven homes. the election commission in egypt confirmed today the new constitution won nearly 64% of the vote in a referendum. the panel also reported turnout was just a third of the country's 52 million registered voters. president mohammed morsi and his muslim brotherhood backed the draft constitution. opponents warned

groups. >> an article in the "new york times" referenced the rape capital of the world comment, and he asked the question, what strategic purpose is there of putting an ak-47 assault rifle inside a woman and pulling the trigger or cutting out a woman's fetus and making her friends eat it? the government's response has been a shrug. that is diabolical. and yet, we are funding on a yearly basis $480 million into this country that allows this horrendous abuse to go on. it appears we do it with full knowledge of the extent of these rapes, and we're not holding them accountable. it is like giving an addict more dope. how do we justify it? >> the funding the defense department is providing is for the training and education that would instill discipline to prevent this very kind of horrific behavior. it is absolutely unacceptable. the funding but supported for specific programming to prevent this from happening from the congolese military. the rebel groups, that is another problem. there is outrageous and unacceptable things happening. our programs are aimed to ensure that does not happen. >
